Ethical Investments

The past few years have seen environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing grow in popularity, and we have seen a huge upswing in client interest following the BBC’s Blue Planet series presented by David Attenborough.

We know many clients increasingly want to know where their money is going and are asking if it is helping to address the climate crisis. Covid-19 is only accelerating this trend.

Ethical and socially responsible investing is the practice of selecting investments based on your ethical and/or moral principles allowing you the power to allocate your investment capital toward companies whose practices and values which are aligned to your own views.

Ethical and Socially responsible investments include eschewing investments in companies that produce or sell addictive substances (like alcohol, gambling, and tobacco, often referred to as sin stocks) in favour of seeking out companies that are engaged in social justice, environmental sustainability, and alternative energy/clean technology efforts.

Investments can go down as well as up and you may not get back what you originally invested.
